Modge Podge? What in
the world is modge podge and why do these words keep appearing randomly on
status updates?? When I saw a friend
looking for a recipe for this mysterious item I thought maybe it was a great
new soup….and with our weather lately I could really use a good bowl of soup……
Modge podge has become the latest craze thanks to sites like
Pinterest. It’s a great way to be
creative with the family or for yourself.
Basically it is a type of glue/sealant/varnish for crafts. You use it as a glue to adhere the underside
of what you are putting down, and again on top to seal the project and add
shine. It is absolutely THE thing to use
for collages…..but people have moved on to creating some pretty unique items
with the paste. You can mod podge everything
from canvas to pencils to gift boxes and furniture….even shoes can be mod
podged!
You can head out to your local Michael's to buy it, or it is simple to make at home:
- Fill a jar half way with white glue (such as Elmer's)
- Fill the other half with water (this is a 50/50 mixture)
- Shake well
- This will be a matte finish, so if you want gloss, simply add 1 TBSP clear varnish

Happy Podging!
