One of the biggest selling points of a home is the bathroom,
and one of the greatest luxuries at the end of a long day is a relaxing soak in
the tub. Like everything else, bathtubs
come in all shapes, sizes and budgets. I
was watching tv the other night, and even saw a giant, golden clad tub in the
shape of a stiletto.
Perhaps the high heel and wine goblet tubs of tv should
remain there, but if you are thinking of remodeling the bathroom or building a
new one, there is a lot to consider. From
basic to clawfooted to jacuzzi, what is it you are looking for in a tub? Do you need to be able to shower in this
tub? How much water will take to fill
it, meaning will it run out your hot water tank and drive up your energy bill
so you can completely submerge yourself?
And of course, when they say measure twice, measure twice….
For some great, detailed information on the aspects of
picking out a tub, check out Home Depots site:
So what is the latest trend in bathtubs? (Yes, even tubs
have trends…..)
- Wood – Who knew?? Wooden tubs made of mahogany or maple are a big trend for 2013.
- Steel – This is different than that old school iron clawfoot. Steel is actually an affordable, safe and comfortable.
- Stone – Best installed by the pros, but a stunning accessory to your bathroom.
- Acrylic – This type of tub is great in that it comes in such a wide variety from free standing to soaker to clawfoot. Acrylic is highly impact resistant and can be found to fit most budgets.
So grab some candles, bubbles and maybe even a glass of wine
and toast your moment of relaxation….well, at least until the kids start
banging on the door. Happy Tubbing!
