“Take it Outside!”….and for once it’s not your Mother’s voice, but your backyard calling! Bbq’s, drinks, food and friends on the patio is something many of us considers the epitome of summer in Alberta. Here are a few key essentials for making the time as fabulous as possible:
• Good Music: Music sets the mood of any party, so invest in a decent player. An iPod dock can be a very worthwhile investment. Having several different playlists on an iPod is a sure way to keep everyone happy.
• Gorgeous Glasses: Outdoor drinkware ranges from inexpensive to over the top ….go with fun and colorful, today’s plastic stemware is made to look incredible on the patio! And then you won’t worry about breakage…..
• Cool Cooler: Have a place for guests to keep drinks cool. If your freezer makes ice you can pre-bag some while it makes more.
• Pest Control: Citronella is a staple in the area, and over time the candle companies have learned to make them look nice too!!
• Shady people: A good umbrella can go a long way. If you are having a party on an extremely warm day, ensure guests have a place that they can escape the heat and direct sun…..or worst case scenario, a little rain.
• There shall be light: If your party will be running after the sun sets, it’s a great idea to have lighting for your guests so that they can see the person they are speaking to. From white Christmas lights to gorgeous, colorful paper lanterns, have fun with it!
