Dramatic in Black

Want to take that room from drab to dramatic?? Consider decorating in black and white. The rule of thumb for decorating is that “every room can use a touch of black”. Black can be an incredible anchor for a room and adds sophistication.
Here are a few great ways to add the sophistication of black and white:
• Look for upholstery or bedding fabrics with hints of black, then add lamps, frames, pillows and hardware in solid black.
• When it comes to flooring, nothing screams beauty like black marble floor against white baseboards. Checkered tiles of black and white can be done to look several ways including upscale or retro chic.
• Use a black and white theme for table settings, and adding a black iron candelabra or black chandelier can easily turn your dinner party into a fancy affair.
• Shiny or matte finish metal accent pieces go great with a black and white theme. Or try adding a gorgeous accent table with black trim or legs, a black frame and a black iron lamp.
• A small bathroom can be glorious with black counters, white sink and toilet and a huge black terry towel hanging up.
• If straight black and white is a bit much for you, add to the rooms look with pops of color. These are easy to change with the seasons to keep the room fresh and updated. Pinks, greens and yellows for spring or summer, red or orange for fall and blues for the winter.
Whatever your color scheme, shake things up a bit by adding pops of black thruout the room. Making a bold statement that best reflects you and your personality is simply the best way to decorate!
