RANDOM ACTS OF NEIGHBORLY KINDNESS
We’ve all been there. You wakeup, peek thru the blinds, and immediately fill with dread at the sight of yet another 6 inches of fresh snow on the ground. But as you continue to survey the scene, something miraculous happens and all of a sudden you feel yourself welling up with happiness and gratitude…..
Some kind stranger has shoveled you out.
Ah, the joys of random acts of neighborly kindness. And while we don’t all need to be a regular cul-de-sac savior, small efforts such as delivering incorrect mail to its proper owner, shoveling the sidewalk of a neighbor or picking up an overturned garbage bin can go a long way. The only thing more satisfying than receiving an act of kindness is by giving.
Being neighborly and communicating with those living close to you is a way of increasing not only your sense of community morale, but your sense of security as well. And if you’re lacking time to grab the shovel to dig out the people next door, try simply smiling at them next time they are outside. It may be the height of flu season, but smiles are the most contagious thing going.
