If there is a month that defines “busy”, December reins supreme. It’s a month of baking, wrapping, trimming, decorating, concerts, snow forts, skiing, parties, shopping and of course, eating and then resolving. But most of all, December is a month of traditions. It’s the personalized experiences forming memories, and it’s the reflection of those memories as the years go by. Edmonton is a city that has so much to offer to help you get into the spirit of the season. From strolling with a hot chocolate and looking at lights, to choirs and plays and sleigh rides, there is something for everyone, and every budget. However you choose to spend the month of December, simply make sure it is one of sharing peace. This time of year isn’t easy for everyone, especially in this economy, so we ask everyone to remember the spirit of giving by sharing hope and joy where you can. You can help out by giving to the local food bank, donating warm hats and mitts or simply giving a second of your time to smile at a passing stranger.
Here is a list of some of the most popular traditions our city loves to celebrate, as well as several ways you can give back.
