Alright boys and ghouls, it’s time to dig out the biggest
bag you can find to stock up on those Halloween treats! And while I always dreamed of living in an
area where costumes could be worn without snowpants and toques, looks like this
year won’t be it, so dress accordingly kids AND parents!
Halloween is such a fun time of year with the option of
creating a lot of fun family memories and traditions. However, it is a festivity in dark and
slippery conditions, involving going to strangers homes (wow, and we get
excited about this??), so here are some tips for keeping the kidlets safe as
they trick or Treat:
S - Swords and knives should be soft and flexible.
A -Avoid going alone.
Go in a group or with an adult.
F - Fasten reflective tape to you and your goodie bag so
drivers can spot you.
E - Examine treats for tampering or choking hazards.
H - Hold a flashlight.
A - Always test makeup before going out to avoid skin and
eye irritation.
L – Look both ways before crossing the street
L – Lower your risk of eye injury by not wearing decorative
contacts.
O – Only walk on sidewalks
W – Wear well fitting costumes, masks and shoes to avoid
falling.
E – Eat only factory wrapped treats, nothing homemade by
strangers.
E – Enter homes only if your with an adult and only go to
well lit homes.
N – Never accept rides from strangers….no matter how cold it
is!!
Even if you aren't escorting the world's cutest Superman or Princess around the block, remember that others ARE. Drive slowly and safely, and watch for 3 foot witches crossing the road. Have a safe and happy evening tomorrow!
