Canadians are among the world's hardest workers, says a new study that puts us in fourth place on a list of 28 nations, including China, India and South Afria and the United States.
The study, released April 12 by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, found that Canadians work about 37 minutes more per day than the average eight hours worldwide. That's 22 minutes longer than Americans, who placed ninth on the list. Belgians work the least, at seven hours a day, and Mexicans work for the most.
As a Realtor often putting in 16- to 20-hour workdays, I know I personally helped increase Canada's ranking!
Here's a quick glance at the top five longest-working nations:
No. 5 - Estonia: eight hours, 36 minutes
No. 4 - Canada: eight hours, 37 minutes
No. 3 - Portugal: eight hours, 48 minutes
No. 2 - Japan: nine hours
No. 1 - Mexico: nine hours, 54 minutes
